Barbara Teso

I am a lifelong resident of the barrio of South Tucson.  I have a B.A. in Anthropology and an M.A. in Library and Information Science from the University of Arizona.  I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Mexican American Studies at the University of Arizona with a major in Migration Studies and a minor in Indigenous Studies.  My dissertation research focuses on Borderlands Feminisms, Subjugated Knowledges, and Borderlands Activisms among Chicana and Mexicana activists and scholar activists in Borderlands contexts, including urban barrios.  I received a Mellon Fronteridades Graduate Fellowship for 2021 from the Concluence Center for Creative Inquiry for my dissertation research.  In the near future, I hope to find a position as a professor/researcher in Mexican American Studies or a related field where I can fulfill my long-term career aspirations and research goals of teaching a diverse community of students and serving the Chicanx and Latinx communities locally and in the U.S.-Mexico border region.
