Graduate Funding & Fellowships
The Department of Mexican American Studies provides Graduate scholarships that are open to students in the program every year. These scholarships are made possible by individual endowments from our generous supporters.
How to Apply
Our scholarships are posted on Scholarship Universe. In order to submit an application for MAS Scholarships, applicants will need to create an account on the scholarship universe website.
Once you have created a profile with Scholarship Universe and if you are a major in our program, you will have access to apply to some, or all, of our departmental scholarships.
General Scholarship Information
All MAS Scholarships are open annually during Spring Semester from Jan. 15 - Feb. 15. Please note that awards will be disbursed the following academic year.
Below is a list of scholarships we offer and the requirements:
Must be an incoming high school senior, college transfer student or MAS graduate student pursuing a degree in Mexican American Studies.
The Richard Ruiz Memorial Scholarship was established by the College of Education, the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, family and friends to honor the passion and dedication of Professor Richard Ruiz.
Must be a student pursuing a degree in Mexican American Studies with a GPA of 2.5 or higher and has not previously applied. Preference given to first generation students.
Applicants must include a response to the prompt and a letter of recommendation by an instructor the applicant has taken a course with.
